Canadian Truck Delegation Upgrades Heavy-Duty Robotic Welding at Aixsen

Client Profile

Aixsen, a provider of industrial robotic automation solutions, hosted a key Canadian manufacturing partner on May 23rd, 2025, to finalize plans for upgrading their heavy-duty truck component production line. The delegation, representing a major Canadian diesel engine parts supplier, toured Aixsen’s advanced facility to evaluate next-generation robotic welding workstations destined for their facility.

The collaboration centers on automating the production of critical exhaust components – specifically exhaust manifolds and turbo flanges. These components present significant manufacturing challenges due to their complex geometries and demanding specifications:

  • Component lengths ranging from 700mm to 1000mm
  • Carbon steel construction with 5mm base material thickness
  • Flange widths up to 100mm with average wall thickness of 5mm
  • Six header flanges requiring angular welds at 12mm thickness

“After years of reliable service from their current robotic systems, our partner recognized the need for both modernization and expanded capacity,” noted Andrew, Solutions General Manager at Aixsen. “Their primary objectives were clear: replace legacy equipment with cutting-edge MAG welding automation and add new robotic workstations to meet growing market demand.”

During the visit, the Canadian team observed live demonstrations of Aixsen’s integrated welding cells handling comparable heavy-section components. Technical discussions focused on customized solutions addressing precise joint access requirements, thermal management for thick-section welds, and seamless integration with their existing material handling systems. The delegation expressed strong satisfaction with the proposed technical approach and production validation results.

“The precision and efficiency demonstrated in your solutions directly address our pain points,” confirmed the visiting delegation lead. “We’re particularly impressed by the adaptability of your systems to our high-mix production environment. We anticipate finalizing contractual details in the coming weeks to accelerate our manufacturing upgrade timeline.”

This partnership underscores Aixsen’s expertise in delivering robust automation for heavy industrial applications. The upcoming installation will feature enhanced seam tracking technology, optimized welding parameters for thick-section carbon steel, and integrated quality monitoring – all critical for maintaining structural integrity in high-temperature exhaust systems.

Key features integrated in the proposed solution:

  • High-payload robotic MAG welding stations
  • Customized positioners for complex angular welds
  • Adaptive welding technology for thickness variations
  • Automated post-weld inspection protocols
