Our client is a leading steel fabricator based in Turkey, specializing in industrial structures. As project complexity increased, the company recognized that its traditional welding methods could no longer meet the demands for precision, consistency, and production scalability.

The Challenge

Before adopting automation, welding of stiffener and box girder required extensive manual labor and experienced welders. This approach led to inconsistent weld penetration, frequent rework, and production bottlenecks. The client sought a solution that could:

• Ensure uniform welding quality across varying stiffener and complex box girder geometries
• Automate repetitive stiffener and girder welding to reduce reliance on skilled labor
• Maintain high throughput while adapting quickly to different project specifications

Our Solution: Integrated Multi-Vision Robotic Welding Workstations

We designed and delivered three H-Beam Welding Workstations tailored to the client’s stiffener and box girder production. Each station was built around a high-payload industrial robot equipped with a hybrid welding system and integrated multi-sensor vision guidance.

• 2D & 3D & Laser Tracking Vision System: This system automatically identifies joint positions, measures groove dimensions, and detects fit-up deviations—enabling real-time path correction without manual teaching.
• Automated Welding System: The integrated system operates through pre-programmed welding procedures for varying material thicknesses and joint geometries, ensuring consistent quality across all workpieces.
• Fixturing & Positioning: Customized servo-driven positioners secure H-beams and box girders during welding, allowing full access to stiffener and longitudinal seam positions. Quick-adjust clamping supports rapid model changeovers.

The client has since standardized this automated welding approach across multiple factory lines, reinforcing their position as a technology-driven steel fabricator in Turkey’s competitive infrastructure sector.
